AWARDED PACKAGING INDUSTRY TOP HONOR
DEER PARK, TEXAS (August 28, 2006) - Henry Johnson,
Vice President Marketing and Business Development with Delta Chemical Services
was recently recognized by the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) for
outstanding contributions to the product packaging service field.
The board of directors of the IoPP conferred “
College of
Fellows” status to Johnson as
recognition for special and outstanding contributions and service to the field of
packaging. According to the Institute,
the award recipient typifies knowledge, skills and conduct of the dedicated
professional. The Institute is committed
to global leadership in packaging, which is achieved through the continuing
education and growth of packaging professionals, and rigorous quality
standards.
Johnson currently serves as vice chairman of the IoPP
Chemical Packaging Technical Committee. He joined the committee in 1995 and has served as secretary to the
executive committee, chairman of the drum, pail and intermediate bulk container
subcommittee, and served as leader of several IoPP work groups.

Committee Takes Top Honors Again (page 2)
Committee
won the Institute’s Technical Committee of the Year award for the fifth
consecutive year. According to the
Institute, the chemical packaging committee continues to set the standard for
all technical committees of IoPP. The
committee continually packs its agenda with educational activities, industry-leading
reports and information, and networking opportunities. Additionally, the packaging
committee annually grants scholarships to help college students pursue
education and careers in packaging. Fourteen
scholarships totaling $6,000 have been granted since 1997.
Johnson
has more than 35 years experience in sales and marketing for the petrochemical
and packaging industry. He joined Delta
Chemical Services in 1993 with a mission to develop and execute a business plan
to build a world class liquid chemical packaging plant in the
U.S
Gulf
Coast. The plant became a reality in October 1998. Today Delta Chemical Services is one of the
largest volume liquid chemical drumming operations in
North
America and possibly on a global basis. Delta Chemical Services received the Deer
Park Chamber’s Industry of the Year Award in November 2005.
