Even though none of the Delta Companies consider itself a major warehouse facility, they have over 1,000,000 square feet of storage area. Most of this area is dedicated to customers for whom they blend and package.. The warehouse is considered an additional service to their core business of blending and packaging. Many of the warehouses have fire protection and are fully contained. They are also centrally located to simplify shipping and transportation, with easy access for trucks and railcars, and are adjacent to interstates and rail systems. Climate control warehousing is also available should it be required.
Inventories are controlled through their computer JDE system that keeps track of what is available and schedules shipments. In addition, there are also cycle counts to verify inventories to book inventory.
Because many of the warehouses are near major ports, containerization is available for those shipments going overseas. The Delta Companies understand the intricacies of the export market and regularly handle such details as export paperwork, scheduling and rate negotiations.
